Seems that I'm reading more and more stories about how Alzheimer's is related to inflammation. Basically, the older you get the more aches and pains you accumulate which inflames your entire system - including the brain. Could a drug as simple as a common nose spray really be one simple answer?

(29,503 posts)to do what they are commonly prescribed for. And look at aspirin and its blood thinning effect with regard to cardiovascular issues - it was initially just a painkiller, of course.

(11,045 posts)To my knowlege no medicine has ever been shown to significantly REVERSE nuerodegneration. Some have claimed success in clearing amyloid plague which is implicated in Alzheimer, but actually promoting detectable neurogenesis? AFAIK never.
'We've restored learning and memory 100 per cent, to a level comparable with youth,' he added.

'It's a very promising approach,' Arthur Roach, director of research and development at charity Parkinson's UK told the New Scientist. 'They've reversed certain aspects of the aged brain.'
This is extraordinary. The only thing I can say is it's Mice, it's only Mice. A number of drugs cure can cancers in Mice, but fail completely in humans. Nevertheless, if half way replicated in humans, this could recast the human condition.
