http://thefreethoughtproject.com/cop-punches16-year-old-student-face-hall-pass/Since he did not leave the hallway immediately and go directly back to class, Jaha went into a rage and attacked the 16-year old boy. Jaha is now facing a misdemeanor assault charge....
In the video, the student can be seen walking out of the bathroom with the officer, and while, on his way back to class, he stops at the water fountain for a drink. The water fountain was directly next to the bathroom that they were walking out of, and the teen did not have to go out of his way or waste any time to get a drink of water. The students choice to get a drink of water along the way was seen as a sign of disrespect by the officer, who then took it upon himself to assault the boy.
While the teenager did not hit the officer at any time, the officer claims that he hit him in self-defense because the boy allegedly took an aggressive stance and balled his fists, which is not depicted in the video.
I guess Hall Pass 2 will be an action flick.

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]This violence has to stop.
Some people love to complain about how kids are "out of control" these days, but where do they think young people learn that violence is an appropriate response to virtually everything?
When a uniformed "peace" officer's immediate reaction is a violent attack for any offense, real or imagined, this is what people, especially the young, learn.
It needs to be addressed immediately and with full prosecution for assault and battery (at a minimum) against police offenders unless they can show they were actually at risk for serious harm.

(37,748 posts)I'm betting someone is, as we read, scouring the web for a story about the biggest high school student they can find assaulting a teacher to better pretend a balance and endorse their foolish inclination that violence against students is warranted.

(3,366 posts)All police brutality stories are followed up with a story about some poor cop being shot by a serial killer or such. Then we're expected to understand why they are so itchy and how dangerous their job is.
When being a cop is as dangerous as being a fisherman, get back to me. Cops are #14 on this list, just behind taxi drivers. Yet I never hear about taxi drivers beating up their fares for "disrespecting" them.

(3,194 posts)Well, in that case, I guess it's ok. NO IT'S NOT. And wait....the video does not show that even happening.
I guess this PIG was living in the pre-video decade, where PIGS could get away with lies and writing up their own FRAUDULENT story of every incident.
The bottom line is this student is lucky he was not shot and killed. I'm sure the PIG was tempted to pull his weapon, after all, the guy was obviously a threat with his non-aggressive stance and his non-balled fists.

(62,411 posts)Do the "resource officers" carry loaded weapons? I am really surprised no one has been shot yet. That will be coming I am guessing.
Someone suggested the SRCs get tested for steroids. I agree - and they should be tested on a daily basis.

(39,909 posts)the teachers asked for volunteer Hall Monitors.
One big guy raised his hand and asked, "Do I get to punch them if they are bad?"
I don't know if he was being smart and playing the system ...or an asshole,.... but he never had to serve as Hall Monitor for the next 4 years.

(2,201 posts)It puzzles me that law enforcement officials always did the right thing....until almost everyone was capable of recording them.
Is there something about being recorded on video that makes individuals in law enforcement do the wrong thing? I think this should be investigated. Perhaps if people were to stop recording our law enforcement officials this sort of behavior would stop, and everything would be ok again.

(16,177 posts)We give cops leeway when they face dangerous situations. If they have to respond to a drunk guy with a knife, for example, or pull over vehicles with occupants who are breaking the law conceivably could be armed.
But a kid stopping for a drink of water (which shouldn't even be seen as beyond the basic autonomy level of any human being including teenagers, by the way, in ANY environment) gets turned into an excuse for violence just because there's a cop involved??
What next? If someone litters, can they be beaten? If a child jay walks, should they be Tased? I'd someone cuts in line at the queue for movie tickets, should they be body-slammed to the ground, or shot?

(65,010 posts)You know, like getting a drink of water! I know i'd feel disrespected if you took a drink of water while i was waiting for you for an extra second.
I can hardly imagine a more blatant display of disrespect.

You know, I think that's it really, these guys have been shit on all their lives and they just aren't going to take any more.
But what the hell are they doing in a school?

(90,061 posts)The idea that violence is the only option when someone mouths off to you is the problem, and people who don't know any better than that ought not be in positions of authority or in schools at all. If you cannot run a fucking school without cops around you need to take a look at yourself, not blame the kids. They have no power.

(3,183 posts)I never got attacked for doing so. I also broke a window belonging to the high school I attended during a snowball fight and never was punched in the face by anyone. I got a talking to by the dean and that was it. What's going on now is ridiculous.

(2,061 posts)That water could have been polluted so it was an act of compassion to punch him in the face.
Are dark forces arising that want students to rise up and act out against these police state tactics because that is where this is going?
Do these SROs work for private prisons and are looking to drum up business?
Back before measured time, the worse thing I worried about was, would what I do end up in my permanent record?
