Everyone always projects the same barbaric acts in the future that occurred in the past.

'We HAVE to do it THIS way, because we had to do it THAT way 50 or a 100 years ago to make it work!'

'We did this to THEM 100 years ago, so when the tables are turned, they'll do it to US!'

We always look for the worst, most aggressive 'solutions' because violence was used in the past and 'worked'.

We really need to get over it, and start trying non-violent, non-aggressive attempts to solve problems first, before we escalate, assuming that only aggression will work.
