Another day, another good guy with a gun accidentally dropping his gun and accidentally shooting several people. This time it was at a Florida Cracker Barrel, where patrons were enjoying their Sunday morning breakfast when BAM! A fellow patron's gun fell out of his holster:
Deputies said the weapon fell out of the gun owners holster while he was walking through the dining room of the Cracker Barrel in Sanford.
Deputies said William Hoback was talking to the checkout counter when his gun slipped out of his holster and fired.
The bullet hit a kettle, which sent fragments flying.

(14,733 posts)Since it was an 'accident', I'm sure no one would even think to suggest any charges should be filed.
AHA! Called it!

(11,489 posts)"According a local news report, police will not say whether Hoback had a conceal-carry permit, but they have said they do NOT intend to file criminal charges."
If I was stopped at a stoplight in my car, and was checkign my cellphone and accidentally released the brake and ran into a pedestrian in the crosswalk, I'd definitely be charged with something.
But some nincompoop with a loaded gun can take it into a crowded restaurant and drop it and injure 3 people and won't even get his hand slapped. He should be charged with reckless endangerment or at least be stripped of his right to own or carry guns.

(8,699 posts)Along the same line as though snake handling churches but with guns.
During the service, you throw a bunch of loaded, hair-trigger, guns into the air. If you get shot and die, it's because you Jesus didn't love you.

That guy seriously needs to be charged and face jail time. ANYONE who carries a weapon needs to be responsible enough to ensure that shit like this doesn't happen, and they need to face consequences if they fail that.

(15,396 posts)and folks new to CC should consider a firearm with a manual safety.
The M&P Shield with safety would be a great "starter" gun for CC.

(1,941 posts)was the guy was adjusting the firearm in his holster, the gun started to slip, he grabbed it by the trigger, it went off and dropped to the floor. Extremely unlikely the gun went off simply by being dropped. That just doesn't happen with modern handguns. For most handguns it's nearly impossible.
I realize people who do this stupid stuff almost always use the, "it just dropped and miraculously fired" excuse. But it's BS. Unless the handgun was made in 1902, its about as likely as spontaneous combustion.
