I pushed it back once from August. Orthopedic on my left hand because of arthritis. I decided to sleep through it instead of being awake through it. Pain meds and dementia aren't pretty. Therapy starts on the 10th. Then next year the right hand.
Marta's hip surgery has been pushed back to next year until she finishes a major project at work.

(12,328 posts)I'm still recovering from 6 major reconstructive foot and ankle surgeries in 2 years. It's not fun.
Don't let the pain get ahead of you. Best wishes.

(17,600 posts)I'm not a fan of surgery in any case but I guess being under is as good as it can get.

(6,625 posts)I have had CMC joint arthroplasty on both thumbs. In fact, I just had my right thumb done for the second time. I wouldn't call the first one a failure: It was 13 years before the pain came back. Now they have a new procedure which is supposed to be even more effective. I'm still doing PT, and the hand is getting stronger and less painful by the day.
It's annoying, it's inconvenient, it's somewhat painful, but in the long run it's worth it. Best wishes for success and a speedy recovery.
