(10,886 posts)He liked Carson but has finally seen that he's a nut job.
Thinks Trump is only about Trump.
Thinks Bush is too wimpy and Rubio too young.
Likes Kasich but doesn't think he has a chance.
He's pretty much resigned to thinking Hillary will be Prez.
He says that's not all bad because he thinks she's "strong on national defense and fairly business friendly".

Luckily, we there weren't any assholes who insisted on fighting about politics.
I see you recced your own thread. You appear to be obsessed with this subject.

(1,926 posts)I am from a "conservative" part of the state, and then moved to Seattle, and became a progressive around 12 years ago. I even (unofficially) worked for a congressperson for a while.
My family is kinda conservative, but great people. Very intelligent.
We just don't talk politics, because I have no tolerance for people's opinions that are obviously flawed, and incorrect. If they want to talk about "grey areas" sure. My sister hates Obama I hear. I don't know why. I guess he didn't clean up Bush's mess properly..... Something about President Obama not letting some Jesus people come pray at the White House once or something. I don't really care. Compared to any of the last Republican presidential disasters, Obama has done a good/great job.
I am just interested in how others interacted with their families talking politics this holiday.
I also love hearing stories about nut job family members. Obsessed? Maybe.....
My neighbor is from Arkansas, and she told me what her brother believes is "scary". I think I know what she means.

(14,177 posts)The closest I got was my youngest daughter scolding me for saying the word, pot. It is apparently a bad word. So I chanted pot pot pot pot pie. Fuck the word police.

(55 posts)Cruz, Cruz, Cruz, and of course the obligatory bashing of our President and Secretary of State Clinton. Sickening.

(5,754 posts)but someone sat there and ate turkey while insisting that the life of a mouse and a human are equal. All I could think about was whether the turkey was also the same as human. Sort of like having a cannibal at dinner, right?
Dad is voting for Trump because "he's the frontrunner." He preferred Jeb (being that my parents are from Florida).
Mom says she's not voting. Thinks Carson and Trump are insane. Doesn't like Clinton or Sanders.

(20,213 posts)mom. I can't say I have any empathy for them though. The mainstream GOP's tolerance of the Teapublcans and hate mongers in the media opened the door for the nutjobs.
