(14,691 posts)silly, silly, silly me.
P.s. I learned about that atrocity on the subway - saw it posted on DU and thought Oh Shit! One of those "where were you when..." moments.

(10,337 posts)you would have no way of rounding up all of the unregistered guns and there are millions of them.

(1,786 posts)On gun control. As was stated already if 20 children being executed could not get basic common sense regulations (BG checks on all gun sales private and commercial, yearly registration, mag caps, safety training etc) nothing will ever get done. It is amazing how someone can advocate the right to own an item that can kill a person instantly while at the same time argue against regulations that enhance safety and responsibility of that ownership.

(39,171 posts)nothing you listed would have stopped Sandy Hook. CT had an AWB - the rifle was not legally an assault weapon. It was registered. It was locked up. Nancy Lanza was well trained. She passed a background check.

(1,415 posts)So hack89, let's do absolutely nothing! Great idea!
hack89
(39,171 posts)just pointing out that CT had damn near every measure gun control advocates demand and it still didn't stop Sandy Hook. Perhaps it is not as black and white as you think.
Because it would not have stopped that nothing should be done...ok
But that is not the only mass casualty event that has taken place. They happen regularly now.
A ban on high cap mags alone would save lives.

(39,171 posts)I support most gun control proposals with only two exceptions- AWBs and registration.
High cap mags were not used at VA Tech.

(1,415 posts)Right now we are proving Einstein out...if we do nothing, how can we expect change?

(1,958 posts)(Pun intended?)
I support universal background checks. I am opposed to AWB and gun registration as well. Gun bans just won't do much if someone is intent on causing carnage.
