Presidential candidates in both parties on Monday swiftly condemned real estate mogul Donald Trump's statement proposing to ban all Muslims from immigrating to the United States.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) denounced Trump for promoting divisiveness.
On the GOP side, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) condemned Trump for his divisiveness.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) similarly called Trump's proposal "outrageous divisiveness," and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) called on all of the presidential candidates "to do the right thing and condemn Trump's statement."

Several GOP candidates did not outright condemn Trump but called into question the practicality and substance of his proposal, like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.).
"Donald Trump is unhinged. His "policy" proposals are not serious."
