In speaking about the three-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre, Connecticut senator Christopher Murphy points out that our mental health system is broken.

He’s right. And there’s no greater proof of that than a Congress dominated by a party that trembles in cowardice, fearful of political retaliation by a gun lobby that deems assault rifles to have higher value than human lives. Their false grief has worn thin, and serves only to compound our sorrow. Republican leadership has made Congress an accessory to murder.
