In the heterosexual context: Each of them wants to have sex, but if he says, "Come over to my place and we'll have sex," then she won't say Yes because she doesn't want to look "easy" or because it would make her feel like a slut or some such. Instead, he says, "We've both had a rough week, let's relax, come over to my place and I'll put on a movie from Netflix and we'll chill out." She knows this means they'll probably end up having sex, and he knows, and she knows that he knows that she knows, etc., but it preserves her plausible deniability. She didn't go there to have sex. She went to watch a movie and sex just happened.

One can hope that, with the erosion of the double standard, the need for such euphemisms will diminish.

There is something remarkably feminine about Cruz and it's not just his crafted eyebrows or rose-tipped cheeks or high voice when he is excited.

What's more, I've heard this very observation from Latino friends, some of whom also consider Cruz a self-hating Latino. Hell of note it would be for a closeted Cuban to re-create himself as a rabidly anti-immigrant and anti-LGBT crusader. It would make perfect sense as we all know the pattern by now.
