General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAbout Rahm Emanuel, we told you so. Now he must go.
We warned that he was a slave to entrenched, entitled Wall Street interests and that he could not be trusted with the best interests of the middle class and below.
The Laquan McDonald cluster-fuck has a stench that can be traced right to Rahm's office. It is inconceivable that he was not an active participant in the cover-up.
It should be no surprise that Rahm has apologized for this killing like a CEO who just fucked a teacher's union out of their pensions by shorting the funds he sold to them the day before. It's who he is. He's the cold, calculating embodiment of the Third Way.
Unfortunately, Rahm's cluster-fuck isn't a lone-wolf event within the ecosystem of Third Way organisms feeding on the middle class and below. Take Debbie Wasserman Shultz, for example.
Rahm needs to go. We were right about him then, we are right about him now.
Simply put, the Third Way cannot be trusted. With the right choices, we can end the madness. Keep this in mind when choosing a local, state or national candidate to support. Find out if they are adherent to the Third Way.
If they are, just walk away.

And what is the alternative? Who will replace Rahm?

(30,738 posts)I would venture to say the most powerful Democrat in just about any state. Rove stays away from us because of Madigan. Madigan is as powerful as he is, IMHO, because not everyone knows his name, unlike Rove.
Our state would be worse off than Wisconsin right now, after our election of Rauner as governor, if not for Madigan's power and influence. Madigan is doing his job in keeping Rauner from wrecking our state.
Illinois politics are fun.

(2,941 posts)Rahm calculated that he could cover a murderers ass and still stay in office thanks to people like Debbie and Hillary. They'll never let the right thing get in the way of their personal gain.
Thanks to people like Rahm, Bill, Debbie and Hillary, we're all efficient, pragmatic, corporate conservatives now in the Reagan vein. We are literally sacrificing ourselves to preserve and protect the Hillary, Debbie, Rahm, Third Way power structure.
And they have wasted no opportunity to fuck us over with this fact.

(33,982 posts)Not sure what can be done about it though. Most of DU's populace knows Rahm's nature. Nothing is ever done.
He's been promoted to a region where he can be effective, and less damaging, so that's good I guess.

(9,688 posts)Their hatred of anything remotely resembling "socialism" is proven, just as Hillary Clinton's admiration for Henry Kissinger is proven.
I've been told that, well, Chile is Chile and isn't the USA, so a comparison can't be made, and furthermore the USA has inbuilt protections against doing to American citizens what Kissinger gave executive orders for doing to Chilean citizens. Likewise when the US overthrew Iranian democracy and installed their Shaw, this somehow doesn't have any bearing on how the US establishment will deal with a serious outbreak of socialism "in the homeland" - because US citizens are different than the people the US victimizes. And Hillary is a "lesser evil", as well.

Clinton responded I do when asked whether she stood by Emanuel, who is a veteran of both the Obama and Clinton administrations.
He loves Chicago and I'm confident that he's going to do everything he can to get to the bottom of these issues and take whatever measures are necessary to remedy them, she told reporters Friday in Iowa, according to Bloomberg.
Emanuel penned an op-ed Friday contesting the idea that the video showing the killing of Laquan McDonald by police was withheld because of his election.

(2,941 posts)wealthy, entitled, privileged and corrupt institution in America that she won't defend at the expense of the middle class and below?
No, I don't think there is.
