(41,831 posts)heard all the way to Maryland is the dry land taking in the moisture! This also means, that some where in the state, its snowing...we need that too, cause it all washes down to the reservoirs eventually!

(41,831 posts)It beats freezing in your house, sitting next to a space heater, because the fog has come in, and the temperature is cold, and the humidity is high...that wet and cold feeling? That's what its like in the fog at night. Love those winds, cause they blow fog away,...except when we really need it in the Summer time, when its 115 degrees over in Concord.
56 degrees in the city is far, far better than 115 in Concord!

(38,613 posts)My big peeve when it's all boiled down: walking home from work with rain blowing at me horizontally at 20mph, while splashing through flooded intersections. That's what I can't wait to complain about this year!

(41,831 posts)a MUNI BUS roaring though a street puddle, where all the water lands on you...hate that!

And at night...the sunsets from Huntington Beach Pier!

(38,311 posts)But I've never ever felt like taking off my clothes and jumping into the surf.
The water is too cold.
In Southern California an Mexico I was always in the water.

(38,311 posts)On land they don't feel so secure about people and will sometimes bite.
Sharks, no I don't want to meet them.
I hooked a big bonito once, fishing with my dad as a kid. I had it just about out of the water and onto the boat when a shark grabbed it, leaving me just the head.
CHOMP! A clean cut.
I remember feeling the shark could have grabbed my arm as well, had he wanted it.

(41,831 posts)the rain won't even sink into the ground. When I lived in Santa Bararba we had major flooding, and drains were clogged, and the over flows ...over flowed. One man was killed, swept from his house, because of the massive amount of rain, that would not sink in the ground. Maybe many areas were gravel filled..places under highway over passes, had large amounts of water under them. Than the mud slides...ack! It was nuts!
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)this keeps this way for another five minutes and we will have a flash flood warning for San Diego Central coastal.
Water dispatched already to a possible water rescue in the north.

(41,831 posts)You stay safe and warm, okay? Lets both grab us a warm blanket and a cup of Hot Cocoa! Okay?

(1,089 posts)We live basically on top of a hill in Encinitas so we'll be fine.
I haven't seen it rain like that here in a LONG time. I hope this doesn't wind up being too much of a good thing.

(41,831 posts)I heard a weather forecaster said, even with this Super El Nino, California will not be able to make up for the water it lost, not for years. Still if the water sinks into the ground, that's great but if it flows outward across the ground, not so good.

(17,108 posts)It means good tidings for all in the year ahead.
There's something about rain in San Francisco that makes it feel all Dashiell Hammett.
I'm cooking up some brown rice and garbanzo beans. Add in some onion, garlic, jalapeno, ginger, and tomato, and I'll have a nice spicy dinner. Maybe I'll put on some old '40's movie tonight and pour a wee dram of the good stuff.
question everything
(47,474 posts)what I wonder is whether any of that reached SoCal: LA, OC, SD counties.
