Two Maine coon cats that had been missing since Saturdays Old Market fire have been reunited with their owner, according to city officials.
The cats, Goliath and Pearl, were in a condo above the Market House when the fire started in the building next door Saturday. The owner, Lindsey Klotz, and friends had posted on social media asking firefighters to return the cats.
City officials mistakenly announced that the cats had been returned Monday. But they later said that was a misunderstanding. Firefighters had made contact with the cats, but they ran away.
So firefighters left food and water, said Carrie Murphy, a spokeswoman for Mayor Jean Stothert.
