Tonight reports are coming in of 10 U.S. Navy personal being held by Iranian Republic guard. Their gunboats drifted on to Farsi island in the Gulf after mechanical issues. Thankfully Secretary Kerry is already working on bringing them home safely.

(51,076 posts)but this sounds like it might be the Seals or UDT teams and if it is there may not be a quick solution to his. The Seals and UDT aren't to be fucked with and if its them then the Iranians will know that too and they'll suspect that they were up to something nefarious so that will cause problems.

(3,813 posts)sounds like they were doing training around Bahrain and the boat broke down and
drifted into Iranian waters.

(707 posts)You are correct in identifying who these sailors are. The problem is the Guard answers not to the Iranian President but to the Ayatollah which may make this more complicated. I'm on permanent shore leave (medically discharged) but still have family involved who is at Coronado. This can go south with the actors involved.

(3,343 posts)much safer than any Iranians that drifted into US waters I'm sure... they'd probably be waterboarded or rendered or killed with a drone.
