IMHO, this current lawsuit is a sneaky ploy. The plaintiff is a lawyer from Texas who I suspect is a Cruz supporter. He knows full well that he has no standing to bring a law suit. He has no standing because he isn't injured by Cruz's run for the Presidency. His intention is to bring a law suit that he knows will be dismissed, on *procedural grounds*....not on the merits of the argument.
Thereby Cruz can grandstand to the general public and say: "see I told you I am eligible to be President, and the proof is the court system has dismissed this frivolous claim against me!"

(135,425 posts)But what if he's found to have standing, as a citizen of the USA who would be injured if his party's choice was ineligible and he lost the opportunity to vote for a Republican because a poser got the nom....?
Those lower court judges can convolute the shit out of anything if they want....

(53,410 posts)Few, if any politician would be brave enough to take such a chance. I'm talking about taking a chance of keeping bad press in the news while running for Prez. What Cruz wants, like every other politician, is for this story to go away.
