Federal Government Will NEVER Get The Sanctuary Back - The Occupiers.

As far as some occupiers are concerned the federal government will never get the sanctuary and its buildings back. As far as the militia is concerned the federal government ONLY has authority in the District of Columbia and that is it. Buddy himself calls it a mission from God.

So the waiting game could go on for how long is anyones guess. Plus the city of Burns is becoming polarized over the issue of the occupation by the militia.

It looks like the militia will resist if any effort is made to interfere with them. And that probably means cordoning off the sanctuary access or stopping them from coming and going freely. There is little indication that there is any solution moving forward.

The federal government is stymied right now because if it does act violent resistance is the likely outcome. These people are determined to win this. And it looks like the numbers of occupiers is growing as other militants filter in.

Well, fuckit, since it doesn't seem to be illegal, I'm thinking I might as well get one for "Me the People" too.

There are a couple of them near me, and I'm trying to make up my mind between the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge adjacent to the Philadelphia Airport or the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge here in Delaware.

Bombay Hook is larger, but Heinz is closer to shopping and I-95.

they would have been in jail or a body bag by day two, and everyone would agree that they "deserved" it. We have drones armed with Tasers. We have other riot control devices. Vanilla ISIS is costing the taxpayers too much and making law enforcement look weak. They need to be locked up pronto.

If anyone is hurt or even killed should action be taken I am sure the GOP will call for impeachment of Obama and arrest for murder of any federal agents who participate in such action. Fox Noise will chime in and go after Dems and Obama as well.

The GOP is irresponsible and crazy. They are in a frenzy to win this election.

Breaking the law is breaking the law. Can you honestly saw that if a Native American group did the same they wouldn't be met with immediate force? Who the fuck cares what the extremists in the GOP think anyway? We have to stop fearing how bullies will react; SOMEONE has to be a grown up, for Chrissakes!

In principle you are right.

Maybe taking over a D.C. federal building or park...there ARE national parks in D.C. What would the feds run by a repuke congress do then?

The employees are ready to go back to work, the elected officials want it over but there are some locals on Bundys side. One rancher brought a huge amount of barbecue and potato salad. They are really stocked with food now. This is very strange.

A fair percentage of the locals are in agreement with some of the seditionists' views on land use (although not the majority, I'd say*). But only a few of the hardcore on that subject, mostly ranchers, actually support the occupation of the refuge. The strong majority opinion locally seems to be that the seditionists need to GTFO.

* Mind you, I'm only a fairly frequent visitor to the area: I live in Portland, five or so hours away.

The town of Burns is divided over the issue. And there are supposedly strangers in town with unknown agendas. The town itself is kind of a hostage.

Ho hum, they might be willing to take it back if the militia guys don't want it anymore.....

It's ridiculous that they've not even set up a blockade of the site. They're not even trying to minimize the number out there or starve them out.

Shakes head.

and where is Obama on the issue? Sure, it's not anything urgent, but it's setting a horrible precedent that can only result in more extreme actions by the same extremists. No brown or Muslim group would EVER be permitted to do the same!

The GOP has created such an incendiary atmosphere during this election cycle anything is possible. There is no easy way out of this. And it seems pretty clear the militia will engaged in armed resistance. And casualties will likely happen on both sides.

The GOP is looking for an excuse to start impeachment against Obama. At some point some in the federal government will have to act. It will be a very tough decision.

The public does not have access to information the federal government has. The fact that others are filtering into the site is troubling. And the conditions in the town of Burns is foggy. There are reports of surveillance by strangers, intimidation, threats to public employees, et al. Plus anyone going down the road in the sanctuary is warned off.

There is an urgency to take action and end it. But it may not be that simple. The feds may not be taking action for a particular reason, because the situation is potentially very explosive. There is no opportunity to surprise these people because of some local support. Cutting off communication itself would warn the occupiers that something is coming down. There are hotheads in that bunch that will open fire if tested.

It looks like there will be no way to avoid a fight of some kind. And a fight could erupt in Burns itself. If the feds start moving they could get attacked in the town itself.

how that is achieved is anyone's guess, but frankly, the worst part of the winter is about to hit. Just close off the roads, and let nature do the rest.
