Source: National Journal
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder conceded Monday that his administrations handling of the Flint water crisis is a stain on his legacy, reflects poorly on his leadership, and is aptly compared to President Bushs mishandling of Hurricane Katrina.
Its a disaster, he said when asked about the comparison some critics have made to the 2005 natural disaster in New Orleans that became a symbol of government mismanagementcity, state, and federal. Its clearly a negative on what weve accomplished since Ive been governor.
In a wide-ranging interview on the eve of his state of the state address, Snyder said he knew last summer about his top aides concerns that Flint residents were getting blown off by the Michigans Department of Environmental Quality. The MDEQ waved off his offices concerns, Snyder said. He accepted responsibility for the lack of adequate follow up, but the twice-elected GOP governor said he would not heed calls for his resignation.
I want to solve this problem, Snyder said. I dont want to walk away from it. Both MDEQs director and chief spokesman were forced to resign, and Snyder has taken several stepsalbeit belatedlyto help Flint identify the extent of the contamination and to respond to it. He said more action will be revealed in Tuesday nights address.

(13,101 posts)I don't give a flying f**k what he wants.
He needs to be in jail.
Can they recall his slimy criminal ass ???
He did all this damage and destruction to save 15 million dollars.
He refused to seal the lead pipes because it would cost $100.00 per day for 90 days.
$9,000, 00 measly dollars.
To repair the damaged pipes is estimated to cost $1.6 billion.
10 deaths and counting, 10's of thousands poisoned, and $1.6 billion dollars
needlessly wasted.
JAIL is the only justice for this slime !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
