(36,827 posts)The Texas GOP is well aware of the GOTV numbers that are required to insure any sort of a chance of victory. Texas is now only 43% white and declining, so at some point many of the state elections will become untenable for the GOP or they significantly change their platform in regards to minorities. If they significantly change their platform, they will lose their base because haters still gotta hate. As Texas goes, so does the rest of the GOP as they will never be able to win a presidential election without the Texas electoral college votes. That's why the Wendy Davis campaign was so important. Even though it was a tactical loss, it was still a strategic victory because it rebuilt the Texas Democratic Party infrastructure for future elections.
So yeah, those in the GOP with more than a few synapses firing are scared shitless. Their ship is sinking, and if this next election doesn't drive that reality home, the next one will.
