The land is beautiful, and there's a lot of nice people, but there is a frightening element in the state that elects extremely dangerous individuals to state and local offices, particularly in rural areas with high percentages of white religious authoritarians.

6. I was googling him

and he is a nut. He was previously a police officer in New York City and apparently did some of that service in Times Square.

I've been to Times Square many times, and can only imagine if you're a police officer working that beat, you could easily end up as insane as this guy. Especially if you add Arizona heat to the brain juice mix.
