Legionnaires' bacteria found in Flint hospital's water

It just keeps getting worse.

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -
A Flint hospital said it discovered a low level of Legionella, the bacteria that causes Legionnaires' disease, in its water.

In a press release, a hospital spokesperson said the hospital noticed an increase of Legionnaries' disease patients that were going to McLaren Hospital for treatment. At that point, the hospital began aggressively testing its water supply.

Early tests indicated a low level of legionella. The hospital spokesperson said as soon as that was identified, they began to enact immediate measures to safeguard the quality of their water system.

The hospital installed a secondary water disinfectant system throughout the entire facility and installed lead filters on water and ice machines.

The McLaren spokesperson said no tests have determined McLaren as the source of exposure for any patients testing positive for Legionnaires' disease.

And then this hit. Although it would seem that would have been a big, flashing red light.

Hospitals use water for all sorts of things, including drinking and washing hands. I can personally attest it is used for cleaning in every department. What a nightmare.

OT: Did you hear Sue Snyder helps run PR for Nestle's bottling operation in Michigan? I'm trying to get it confirmed...

That would be a very 'inconvenient' connection, for the Snyders.

Sorry! Nestle water Spokeswoman is Deb Muchmore's wife -- the just resigned chief of staff's spouse, not the governor's.

It might be chilling if anyone actually ever did a deep vetting of Snyder and his staff of cronies.
