(19,460 posts)I love this part. "She is asking volunteers from her campaign staff to distribute water instead of canvasing for votes."

(13,190 posts)They love pushing the negative stories about the Clintons. If you Google her name 90% of the news articles are negative

Birds of a feather flock together as the old saying goes. She hangs with henry the k and d brock what more needs to be said.

(11,617 posts)But then look who owns the media. The prospect of a Clinton presidency scares the pants off of these wealthy, powerful corporations and individuals. They sure as hell aren't going to help her any.

(58,785 posts)true. What legislation are we talking about and does he expect the Republicans pass it?
And I admit passing out water is more than a little too like passing out snow shovels in Iowa. I guess these gimmicks have some value in grabbing people's attention and being talked about more than just someone knocking on the door would.

(710 posts)"I feel your pain" speech standing next to a group of black residents and then onto the next campagin event...classic Clinton.
I can remember back in the early 90's, during the 92' recession, when the Clinton's and Gre's came to town to peddle their bulllshit. They primised to act pritect the US steel industry from foriegn dumping (the town's largest employer). Lot's of promises and no action...
Nothing has changed in 25 years...

(19,460 posts)I will assume they are not doing anything to help since you can't answer the question.

(24,780 posts)Flint is way too far outside their little comfort zones.

(24,615 posts)Harris added that Clinton did not use the water crisis as a platform to further her political agenda, but rather brought her own spotlight to shine light on the problem. Her voice was more than that of a politician, he said, it was the voice of a humanitarian.

(7,302 posts)The story was already in the news. It was already a national disgrace. What did she accomplish for the residents, then?
brer cat
(24,615 posts)During her visit to Flint last week, speaking at the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton called on Congress to pass an emergency funding bill to replace and rebuild the water pipes in Flint. This has to be a national priority, she said there. What happened in Flint is immoral.
In announcing the endorsements, the campaign also said Clinton is asking campaign volunteers to join the Red Cross and United Way to distribute water to residents of Flint, rather than canvas for votes. Clinton is also calling on President Obama to issue a Medicaid waiver to Michigan so that Flint residents under the age of 21 will receive universal Medicaid coverage.

(24,780 posts)So they endorsed her.
I don't believe Sanders has shown he cares much about Flint. Except maybe talk about it from a few hundred miles away.

(7,302 posts)I hope you realize that the people you've just called "fools" will be asked to vote for the winner of the primary and they might not like what you've called them. I see the same thing coming from the Clinton camp.
Also, some undecided but leaning Sec Clinton may also interpret your post as calling them "fools" also.
And finally, specifically AA's may interpret this as you calling them "fools" and probably won't like it..
It's not helpful.

(24,615 posts)I am not alerting on you, but this doesn't belong on this board. Being totally disrespectful of an entire race of people because of your blind Hillary hate is not progressive or liberal.

(978 posts)Since it was her husband's policies that helped trigger the economic downfall of Flint...
Is it because she saw it as a political opportunity to fish voters among the people whose lives she and her husband have ruined?
I grant you, the Clintons didn't do it alone. It was a big, exclusive club doing it. And neither, you, I or the people of Flint are in that big club.
bigdarryl
(13,190 posts)And when the voters didn't get there asses out to vote Snyder came in and started the water crisis because he was trying to privatize the water how it was distributed

(26,295 posts)I am honestly gob-smacked that, after searching her web site, she doesn't seem to have ANY campaign offices in Michigan.
Bernie's people are in Flint, in a nice big headquarters right smack in the down town area. And they have water to distribute, too.
Actions speak way louder than words.

But I am surprised it has taken this long because the Sanders campaign has been pretty active for a while, now.

(26,295 posts)But from someone who actually lives here, I've seen zero activity by her on the ground campaign, other than her visit here. And it surprises me that I haven't seen more, because she's been so supportive in the water crisis aid campaign.

(28,877 posts)That's important these days.
However, as prez, she will just be another corporate stooge
like Bush and Obama.
Sanders, as an elected official, will actually do the kind of
work that will make a positive impact on our crumbling
and sadly privatized infrastructure.
