Those seven people are dead. They can't be made alive again. Their passing will be mourned by their immediate families and friends, noted by many others, and NOTHING will be done to end the scourge of gun violence in America as a result of their deaths.
The results of the Presidential race, on the other hand, will have profound effects on the lives of every single American, as well as many people overseas. Will we get a candidate who takes climate change seriously? Will we get one who initiates MORE wars, MORE drone strikes on people around the world?
Swiftboating attacks on one of the two candidates by the other candidate using racially inflammatory lies out of the mouths of 'iconic' civil liberties activists can have a profound effect on who wins the nomination, so challenging them quickly and debunking them and spreading that debunking widely and quickly is vital to the course of the election cycle, ad thus to determining who will be the President who decides whether we as a nation prioritize killing foreigners or working to mitigate the damage climate change is doing to the world.

(959 posts)Police say the suspect was arrested at about 12:40 a.m. at Ransom and Porter streets in Kalamazoo. According to Michigan State Police, the suspect is a 45-year-old white man from Kalamazoo. Police said weapons were found in his vehicle.
"These are random murders," Matyas said. This is your worst case scenario."

(51,308 posts)6:30 am now, and I'm learning about it via DU. Yours is actually the third thread I saw it on.
Some of us don't have the TV on 24/7. Some of us have actual real life lives that we're living.
Somehow coming onto a website and posting in indignation will help anything?
Chill out.

Angry white males, slaughtering females.
It's violence overload.
We can't keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results....

(7,290 posts)At least that's what we're always told - so, which of the proposed gun laws in THIS country would have prevented this shooting?
tabasco
(22,974 posts)So you can't say that anymore.

(9,951 posts)yet firearm laws are getting more liberal, all 50 states now have some sort of concealed carry law, more states, including mine, are now allowing for Constitutional Carry, etc.
So, tell us again how your pipe dream is coming to fruition?

The vast majority of handguns in this country will never be used illegally or negligently so why punish us?

(9,951 posts)You have to go through the ATF background check and pay the $200.00 tax stamp, but you can own them, and a rocket launcher is nothing more than a fiberglass tube, which you can buy at any Army/Navy surplus store.

But to play along, which of the proposals put forth by the President or Democratic politicians, would have stopped this shooting.

(18,318 posts)DU has two groups and, IMO, one defacto guns forum in which to post tragedies like this. If you can't pump up a discussion via these outlets, then I don't know what to suggest.
Over the years, the best way to get a flood of gun-talk is through:
1). A mass murder (usually in a school)
2). Murders committed through using Gunz. (Other methodologies need not apply.)
Little is mentioned of other mass killings, esp. If the victims/killers are minority. But you will have to discuss these "priorities" with the banners. Good luck with that, as you wll have to penetrate layers of Narrative and character insult.
Please note that last year I broached discussion of a mass murder in Houston in which nine (9) people died, wondering why it hadn't provoked a sunami of gun-humping, ammosexual stuff, and penis talk; after all, the murderer used a gun. Alas, he and his victims were black, so it was BAU.
