President Obama makes convincing argument for closing Gitmo.

I'm listening to him speak right now. I do not see how any reasonable person can reject his argument for closing this prison. I suppose the Republicans will reject it, but the case for closing Guantanamo is clear, simple and logical.

As President Obama said, even GWB wanted to close the thing.

Thank you, Mr. President, once again, for being the sane person in the room.

I'm sure the talking points memo went out to all Repugs and the remaining candidates to kill the President's plan.

and needed closing. It's convincing the Repubs and Warhawks that gets complicated. For them, it's some kind of a war memorial political tool.

It made for a few good lines on NCIS, but other than that, I can't think of any way its usefulness outweighed the negatives of keeping it open. Well other than the Repubs blocking the closing and then complaining that the Pres didn't close it. I guess it worked for them.

Didn't he say he would close it in his campaign 8 years ago? And it's still open? Not impressed, it should have been done by now.

In the past he's only advocated moving it. First to Illinois, lately I think he's been looking to Texas or something. Has he finally decided to actually close it? That'd be a bit strange since he's always asserted that he had the authority to hold a few of them indefinitely without trial.
