HESSTON, Kan. - Hesston police confirm a shooting at Excel Industries in the 200 block of South Ridge Road in Hesston. Dispatchers say two people were killed and multiple others are hurt

UPDATE: 5:50 p.m. A spokesman with Via Christi spokesman confirms at least one patient from the Excel Industries shooting was taken to the hospital in Wichita.

UPDATE: 5:37 p.m.-- Hesston College is on lockdown due to the active shooter situation.

We are currently looking into a reported shooting in Newton this afternoon at 12th and Meridian and whether it could be connected to the shooting at Excel Industries. Witnesses have described a suspect vehicle as a gray and red pickup truck.

UPDATE: 5:27 p.m.-- Dispatchers say a suspect has been disabled. We are working to confirm this information.

Eyewitness News spoke with a woman from Mid Kansas Family Practice near Excel Industries. The woman said an injured woman ran to the facility from Excel for help and the office was locked down. The woman at Mid Kansas Family Practice did not confirm if the woman from Excel had been shot.

Went to see Jim Jefferies the other night and he does a routine on how we all went thru the metal detector and we must all be safe, but just in case not, he says "Ok,here I am, you have a good shot at me now"

Another day, another shooting, and another, and another.

Why is this even news? It is just part of the chances you take while living in the United States. Maybe you get lucky, maybe not. But the reality is that guns are part of our Constitution, and are therefore more important to our existence as a society than a few people...of a few hundred...getting shot here and there each day.
