Who Do You Want the Republican Nominee to Be?

Let's stick with Trump, Cruz, and Rubio as the choices since the other two have about a 0.000000000001% chance of winning the nomination.

So when you are looking at the Republican polls and the primary results, who are you rooting for? Not who would be the best candidate, who do you want to see as the head of the GOP ticket?

1. I always have two different answers to that question.

Answer 1 is based on: Who do I think is most extreme and therefore easiest to beat: Ted Cruz

Answer 2 is based on: Who would I rather be the nominee in the event the Dem nominee loses to them for some reason. Meaning the more moderate candidate: Donald Trump.

Ideologically somewhere between choices 1 and 2. although in this instance the dimmest bulb could prove to be the most formidable candidate of the three.

I'm not sure how he would win over anyone beyond his current coalition of people who say " I hate Cruz and I don't trust truml, I guess I'll vote for what's his name "

Although the Pubs don't seem willing to go after him, the Dems who do opposition research have found their pot of gold in The Trumpster's past! No matter WHO the Dem nominee is, they will be guaranteed to win against Donald. Some very serious things have just come to light about The Trumpster, like his scam University. I admit I never heard of it, but it really was a scam that cost his victims a LOT of money...$34-$40 thousand! There is a class action against him right now! He doesn't stand a chance in hell of convincing the public that HE is better than either Hillary or Bernie. To think the university is the ONLY horrid thing in his past is idiotic. The Pub voters probably won't voter for a Dem, but they'll just stay home. My prime concern is that a Dem gets elected, and if it's b getting the majority of the Pubs to stay home, I'll take it!

as a patriotic American I see that as a mandatory development even if it means a stronger Republican candidate. I personally think that Trump would have some moderate positions and I'd prefer him over Rubio. Trump will be a failed Presidency-isolated from both Republican and Democratic support even worse than Jimmy Carter. Right now polls suggest Rubio would be tougher to beat.

While the rest of the country does their own thing. It would be a 4 year My Super Sweet 16 with Trump and a small number of loyalists while the nation leaves him behind.

It's just self promotion and burning every bridge possible. Even a significant minority of Republicans see the major problem with having a failed businessman with no political experience becoming the president. If he somehow got elected, it would be a massive failure. People would get so tired of him bragging about how great he is as absolutely nothing got done. A majority of Republicans would rather lose this election and try again in 4 years, than have trump drag down their party for a generation by alienating virtually every demographic in the country except old white men that are somehow still bitter about the civil war

I think with trump, most Republicans would just give half hearted support but mostly leave him on his own to lose. But with Cruz, the GOP establishment would sabotage him at every opportunity. I bet most elected Republicans would secretly vote for Clinton or Sanders over Cruz.

Trump would be going up against the entire Democratic party without any Republican support. Cruz would probably have to deal with some kind of Shadow alliance between the Dems and GOP to destroy him.

I would imagine the odds of him winning against either dem are very low but still, it's feels really risky. I think the media narritive of him being immune to criticism or invincible because he got the most brain dead and racist 1/3 of the Republicans to stick by him no matter what crazy verbal diarrhea he spews out is all an illusion. However, the guy is a total sociopath and the damage he would do would be monumental. I could seriously see him with secret police and starting wars because someone made fun of his shoes.

The destruction of the Republican party is such a tempting goal of his nomination but if he somehow wins, God help us.

and life has just gotten much more unpredictable. Rubio would be worse, I think he'd really get rid of Obamacare and start a war! Trump is just a lot of talk but you never know who he'd let into his cabinet.. Jerry Falwell?
