The students' opposition bill lists numerous concerns with the Tennessee legislation, including the threatening environment it could create for non-carriers on campus, and the lack of necessity for the bill with an active campus police department to ensure student safety ...

Eight thousand Franklin County residents have concealed carry firearm permits that must be renewed every five years.
A bill is currently circulating in the Missouri Senate that would allow them to renew those permits for life for a one-time fee of $500.

YUMA, Ariz. Arizona Senate Bill 1257 would allow concealed carry permit holders to take their weapons into some public buildings ...
If passed it would require public establishments such as libraries and city halls to allow permit holders to carry their firearms, however it would exclude federal buildings, high schools, universities and court rooms. It could also establish security guards and metal detectors at the facility.
Some residents we talked to say they would be fearful of what could happen if guns were allowed in places like city hall or a library.
There are some people that are going to get upset at some of the public officials. There probably going to go in there some of these nut balls try to go in there and shoot the place up, said winter resident Michael Palmatier ...

Sen. Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, tried to add the proposal as an amendment to a bill already before the full Senate. However, Senate Rules Chair David Simmons, R-Altamonte Springs, determined the move was not feasible, Gaetz said ...

The House bill picked up an easy 68-31 win in that chamber last month and went on to a 24-9 victory in the Senate which included a smattering of bipartisan support.
However, the Democratic governor stuck to his guns and repeated the same veto for the same reasons that he did of a similar bill last year amid criticism from gun control advocates, U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin who represents the state in Washington, and law enforcement lobby groups.
Surrounded by police officers, Tomblin scuttled the measure citing concerns over the safety of law enforcement ...
