You know who I genuinely feel a bit sorry for?

Barron Trump, Donald's nine year old son.

Unlike everyone else in Trump's clan, the poor kid hasn't yet reached that veritable age of reason.

His much older brothers get to be Donald's henchmen, Ivanka's content at being Donald's Vanna White all while he makes really creepy statements about her....oh, then there's that other Trump daughter from Marla who's just sort of....there.

But Barron's probably still at that stage where he probably still has no clue that his father is a complete asshole and horrible, horrible person, and that his mom almost certainly married him for monetary reasons only. He's just been raised in this bubble life of oblivion amongst gaudy, tacky opulence and tabloid fueled notoriety.

The tragic thing is, if he continues to grow up surrounded by his dad, chances are more likely than not he'll grow into being an asshole too, just like his wildcat killing brothers. But that probably hasn't happened yet, or at least I hope it hasn't. If there's any chance this kid grows up and manages to retain a soul and a conscience and distance himself from the narcisssitic emptiness that is his dad....well, good luck to the kid. I sincerely hope it happens.

Growing up, in my hometown we had a certain resident A-list celebrity who had a reputation of being a complete prick. However, I did manage to interact with his son (who was a couple years younger than me), and he came off as being a genuinely nice kid who didn't want to be considered the spoiled child of a celebrity but rather just any other kid. I always felt bad for him, because all the other kids kept on wanting to talk to him about his dad. I consciously avoided doing that, and he seemed to appreciate that.

I bet he hardly knows his father and his mother looks very high maintenance and into her looks and extensive wardrobe. He's certainly not a kid who gets to be a kid. Surrounded by nannies and bodyguards. Not many other kids around. He lives in a privileged adult world. Wouldn't wish his life on any kid.

Sasha and Malia are surrounded by bodyguards and attention 24/7, but they seem to be well-rounded. Chelsea didn't seem to be screwed up by White House living, either.

True, they'll all get stuff thrown at them and doors opened for them that we'll never dream to have ourselves, just because they are American royalty, but if they keep themselves grounded hopefully they'll end up as decent human beings, privileged upbringing notwithstanding.

and Trump's boy. Michelle's mother lives in the White House and I'm sure she watches them closely when their parents aren't around. Yes, they lead very privileged lives but not in the over the top gilded cage that Barron Trump is being raised in. The girls have been going to school, getting together with friends, and generally living as normal a life is as possible growing up in the White House. Trump's little boy simply looks sad and lost.

I don't even know where to begin.

Looks like a hotel lobby, not a home.
Woman standing behind Trump doesn't look real, looks like a mannequin draped in a sheet. Maybe a hooker android?
Little boy as far away from Trump as he can get and still be in the picture, dressed in a suit, riding a large stuffed lion.
Boy looking forlorn and lost.

Trump smiling and oblivious to all of it.

Trump's grown kids seem to like him and be on his side. I'm not inclined to feel sorry for the youngest of that group, not knowing anything more.

Fwiw, my own children reached the age of reason and developed public faces, having tossed off the last of babyhood (lips quivering for the loss of my babies), by their seventh birthdays. Kids Barron's age understand so much more than many people realize.

As for growing into an asshole, this is America, the land of the free who have the inalienable right to pursue their own happiness however they style it. The only limitation being where the other guy's nose starts.

Just leave the kids out of it. It's totally unnecessary and servers absolutely no purpose.

If Barron Trump ever comes across this post, chances are it will not be until years in the future, at which time he'll hopefully have the emotional maturity to comprehend it. And my hope is--unlike his father--I hope he'll end up a decent, well-rounded guy.

I think you're overanalyzing this.

Not that the post actually derides him personally.

And as to Trump's grown kids, they're adults, and his grown sons and at least Ivanka have been more than willing to enable him in his assholish narcissistic ways, so tough cookies if they hear someone call their dad an asshole.

But as you said, whatever.

I've always known it to have a generic meaning, and after googling its origins, it doesn't really apply to the Trump Bros. But I went ahead and edited it out anyways.
