convicted man imprisoned for 20 years.
My son is an assistant DA at the Brooklyn DA's office. This unit has worked to free 20 innocent people who were convicted of crimes they did not commit
The story is in the NY Daily News:http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/man-wrongfully-convicted-91-brooklyn-murder-walk-free-article-1.2559747
My son's niece, my granddaughter, accompanied him to this event.
It is such a pleasure to know my son was working to restore the public's faith in our criminal justice system.

(15,480 posts)They scattered to pick up master's degrees and then got back together in "The City", worked day jobs while playing gigs for a year, did a college tour, & cut one record which got good reviews - but good musicians are in over supply, and they couldn't make a living at it, so they got on with their lives. My son ended up a prize-winning investigative reporter/environmentalist, but still loves to play guitar. One report of his triggered a congressional investigation into Shell Oil's drilling equipment for inadequate safety performance. And it was a highlight of this single mom's whole life to be his "date" at the Sigma Delta Chi award ceremony at the National Press Club.
When he took that year off, his grandmother was beside herself - oh, all his good education going to waste. But I said, hey, he's always worked hard and been responsible - this is the time in his life to take a fling like this, and not as a midlife crisis: "Oh, I never went gold-mining in Alaska." And very ironically, he eventually did spend several years in Alaska, reporting out of Juneau for 2 years, and last year spent 4 months in the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands - in what passes for summer in the Arctic. He interviewed Caribou Barbie back when she was governor. I asked him what it was like. He replied, "Word salad."
I envy you your grandchild - I only have grandcats and one grandhorse!
Thanks for listening/reading!

Love seeing justice, sad it doesn't happen nearly enough.
