(13,870 posts)Says it was police, not Trump supporters, but very little real info. I was very skeptical, since I think the media would be all over this. The Sunday talk shows all had segments on the protests at the Chicago rally and Trump's statements encouraging the violence.
Site looks legitimate.

(164 posts)that wouldn't surprise me a bit. Having lived in Chicago and participated in anti-war and pro-working people marches and demonstrations, I've seen and experienced first hand what the police in Chicago are gleefully capable of.

Not surprised though that someone took an event at a Trump rally and tried to bend it to an anti-Clinton talking point.

(45,984 posts)Who said months ago in response to a beating of a homeless man (IIRC) by two Trump supporters, "My supporters are very passionate."
Up to that point, Trump was just a silly clown who talked about building a wall on the Southwestern border and add some bravado about making the government of Mexico pay for it. I don't know about you, but I stopped laughing at Trump after he made that remark. Once his supporters began beating protesters at his events, the Nazi comparisons stopped being tasteless hyperbole.

I've been thinking about what might set em off and maybe NRA headquarters where no one is injured and heck, they were about to build a new headquarters there anyway and heck, it saved them a lot of money to have the building razed without spending their money.

(75,480 posts)roller derby and wrestling exhibitions. We were both eight years old at the time. Since her parents were divorced, he would spend every other weekend with my friend and her brother. Dad used to take his kids to those events and sometimes I tagged along. The audience was a better show than what was happening in the ring or the oval platform. Men beat each other up regularly. Women and children were exempt unless it was the ladies or even kids going at each other. The problem was that often innocent members of the audience were also hurt. Of course, when my friend's mother found out where her dad was taking his children for entertainment that quit abruptly.
These Donald Trump rallies remind me of those days. So it turns out that it's mentioned on the radio today that Trump once owned wrestling franchises. What the fuck is he thinking? Does he imagine he can run the presidency like a fake sports venue?

(62,415 posts)for the victims of the violence. Without true universal health care this woman most likely had some deductibles and co-pays that depending on her situation could be difficult to cover. That is best case scenario. If she has no insurance sje may be looking at an unexpected whopping bill.
Will she possibly lose her job due to absence?
I am sure there are more costs that associated with this beating that we will never know. And there is the fear that she now must live with.
One thing that is never discussed is that every act of violence in this country incurs some costs that we all pay for in some way.
Enough of the strutting junior high bully act, Trump. Admit your guilt and be responsible for what you cause.

Even though they put some $$$ figures on it, I can't help but think of the lives affected by even the smallest act of violence - whether that act is a police officer shooting someone or some "christian" shooting someone for jesus or just someone drunk and armed.
Jeez - posted too quickly:
Mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, friends, coworkers, bosses, acquaintances - every body who knows a victim of violence is affected forever.

The source is not a right wing rag. It is a liberal leaning site. And while somebody might be lying to them, I have no control over that. Requiring posters research every story to come to a final irrevocable "truth", would mean very few news stories would ever get posted; if any.

(2,983 posts)I'm afraid it's going to get worse until we're seeing these kinds of injuries frequently - possibly (and likely) deaths as well. If Trump "doesn't condone violence", he needs to make a very public, very long statement urging his supporters to not act with violence. He has frequently done just the opposite.
Terrible.

(27,802 posts)The Op link to The Intellectualist provides no further information at all.
It only says:
"We have spoken to the victim and a friend of hers who is acting as her spokesman.
Through her spokesman, the victim gave the Intellectualist permission to post additional photos of her injuries.
As more facts come to light, the story will continue to be updated."
(It then shows the entire facebook post)

- Who is this woman? Can she be found? Will she speak?
- Who beat her? A Trump supporter or the police?
- Can her accounts be confirmed by a third party?
Until then, this is bull crap to me. The fact that it came from Facebook makes it even more suspicious.
