My personal glimpse into the Trump voter mindset this weekend.

I went to the neighborhood pool supply store this weekend to pick up a few jugs of chlorine.

As I walked toward the store, I noticed a car parked with a "Trump for President" bumper sticker on the back of it. At the time, I wondered how difficult or easy it would be able to identify the Trump supporter in the store.

As I walked in, it became painfully obvious who the Trump voter was.

There was a man who had to be about 80 years old. He was dressed all in black. His shirt was skin tight and covered a very large protruding pot belly. There were two very noticeable things around his waist. The first was a gold, shiny police type badge. And the second was probably one of the worst efforts to conceal a sidearm I had ever seen, as the shape of the gun's holster was quite obvious through the man's tight black shirt. (My state is not an open carry state, but is a concealed carry state.)

My first thought was, "There's no way this guy is an active police officer." He looked way too old and out of shape to be even a courtroom bailiff, let alone an active duty police officer. (My second thought was, "Why is someone wearing all black to buy chlorine? Is he crazy?&quot

As I gained a closer look at the man standing by the counter, I noticed his badge wasn't for any actual police agency, but rather merely read, "Private Detective."

I was not the only one taken aback by the sight. The other customers in the store also seemed to be staring uncomfortably at the man. Not that anyone thought he was any sort of risk to rob the store or anyone in it, but he seemed to have all the markings of a guy who might have a short fuse and could use his armed status to his benefit (I immediately thought of the guy in the movie theater who shot another man because he was using his cell phone to text).

When he stood at the counter to purchase his chlorine jugs, he handed the clerk a discount card and claimed he was entitled to 10% off. The clerk told him he was actually only entitled to 5% off. He grumbled and muttered at this horrible news. Thankfully, he didn't draw his weapon but at one point I have to admit it the possibility crossed my mind. I have to congratulate the clerk for what had to be nerves of steel. After agreeing to only the 5% discount, the man took his chlorine jugs and left. I then went and paid for my jugs.

As I walked out the door back to my car, my suspicions were confirmed: Mr. Elderly Fake Cop was the guy with the Vote for Trump sticker on his car.

It just seemed so obvious, though. Someone who feels it necessary to come fully armed and impersonate a police officer just to buy chlorine a suburban pool supply store and haggle over a 5% discount seems exactly like the person who would be paranoid and angry enough to throw all of his support towards Donald Trump.

comparison at a Caucus here in Vegas. When you walk into the room, your hair stands on end. Noticed a couple of Hispanic fellows and the rest were for the most part, old angry white people. Just standing in a corner and observing, the vocal dislike for Obama was just off the charts, for me this is nothing new. My little neighborhood babbles this insane hate speech daily, and they are retired blue collar workers for back East.

Was asked to leave when one of my neighbors spotted me. Never realized you could find that much STUPID in one room.

You can always spot wannabe Soldiers as well. They are the only idiots running around in camo yet most definitely not in uniform.

his age who will be the same.

When I was a kid the Winchester rifle was something I very much wanted to have. I saw brave cowboys using it to fight off the mean indians in the movies (ugh). It looked like so much fun to load, cock and shoot. I mean look at it, how cool is that. The lever you cock before shooting, how cool and much fun could you have!! (not being facetious, seriously would love to have one)

To this day I would love to have one and shoot it in target practice or whatever, maybe those things that fly up and you shoot at them, whatever they are, clay pigeons.

And anyone who does have this for that purpose would not be an asshole or like that guy in the store. What would be like him would be the hand gun six shooter I also wanted when I was a kid fantasizing about being a cowboy, if it were on my hip, because that would be dangerous, unnecessary and childish. There are so very few legitimate reasons to carry a weapon.

Your chlorine friend epitomizes the Trump voter, I fear. They are not just dangerous in the voting booth, either.

You really don't want to be firing at clay pigeons with a rifle.

Earlier someone posted something about the March anniversary of Bartcop's passing, and this story reminds me of something I read on his blog about a run-in with a guy like this - an older conservative gentleman, who was a retired cop, would open carry, and still had a badge in his wallet that he would constantly flip open in public conversations to try and intimidate people.

5% off, it he is buying 2 jugs that is 10% off, RIGHT? Seems like the way a Trump addled brain might work.
