CNN Exit Poll shows it 50-50 right now.
EVERY poll leading up to the results today used the "Likely Voter" model.
That model is null and void given the same day registration reality.
It's a new ball game and anything can happen. My money is on Barrett in a squeaker, but results known by morning. Here's to the first of many progressive victories in 2012!

(21,925 posts)I wonder how long it will take to count them and if the election will be close enough that they matter.

(1,055 posts)It's a battle and every vote counts, especially since Nickolaus stands prepared to "find" literally thousands of votes in Waukesha as she did in the past two elections she presided over.

(5,668 posts)the Dems take the senate. thus blocking anything Scott might do in the radical area. That and he's looking at jail time with Blago a few months down the road anyway. win or lose. MSM is playing this as a one card election. not hardly. there's at least 3 cards in play here. Gov Lt Gov and the Senate. So if we get any of those, thats cool by me. Ironic the open seat is in wausau though since I used to work for that paper. Where if you were over 70, you made use 20 yr olds think. gosh. they are still kicking it. I can't look silly and tired. gotta keep going

(8,646 posts)and remind everyone what happened in Alberta. The Progressive Conservatives had been in power for a long time. They are a center-right party that was moving slowly towards the center because of the changing demographic in Alberta (younger, more diversity). The far right wingnuts severely disliked this and created the wingnut...er...Wildrose party. The polls leading up to the last election showed Wildrose WAY ahead...so much so when I started watching tv after the polls closed, I was thinking the best we could hope for was a Wildrose minority. The pundits were saying Wildrose was almost guaranteed a majority. They gave the PC's a less than 10% chance of winning. Well....
What happened was the PC roundly beat Wildrose and we ended up with a PC majority. The pundits and pollsters were totally gobsmacked. LOL, it was a thing of beauty. People didn't want a wingut party and that drove turnout way up. I'm hoping the same thing happens with you guys! Lots of good thoughts coming your way! Go pull an Alberta!
