(7,527 posts)If I read the map correctly the most undesired section is India which is Hindu.
And I am guessing the people being polled were fearing the "Filthy Arabs"
On edit.....the poll needs clarification. Was this a world wide poll or poll of USA residents?

(111,255 posts)Not surprised at all about the dark blue areas. I think if the US were done state by state, it would be quite different, but I'm pleased that we all average out to be grownups.
France is understandably mildly xenophobic since the Paris atrocity.

(82,383 posts)Surprising. Also is that Jordan?
Wouldn't have expected that really.
India is one of the more backward countries in the world. Not only do they discriminate against Muslim and Sikh minorities they have the abhorrent class system where huge portion of the country is considered "untouchables".
Arab culture is pretty racist. Same with Persian. Most 3rd world countries with significant history of colonialism suffer from self hatred and have under tone of race ranking (blacks at bottom, white at the top)

(751 posts)USA/CA/Australia are relative to other countries because these are settler countries where everyone is an immigrant.
For all of Europe's liberalism they are more racist in terms attitudes than policies. In USA you really have to separate AA and immigrant groups because of the toxic history of slavery. There is more institutional racism in USA but thankfully in attitudes while not perfect is much better than rest of world.

(23,156 posts)About 25 years ago when I was househunting, one house we looked at it was obvious the home owner was African American. I really liked that house, and I made some sort of comment to the realtor -- can't recall exactly what I said but I think I was simply trying to get a fix on the racial breakdown of that neighborhood. The realtor responded as she should have, playing down the issue.
We wound up buying that house, and alas, the homeowners we purchased from were the only African Americans in that subdivision. I would have honestly been quite content had the neighborhood been mostly AA, because it was obvious that it was a good area, homes well maintained, and in an excellent school district. To this day I feel slightly bad about turning the neighborhood completely white.
