French journalist Florence Hartmann jailed by war crimes tribunal

Former Le Monde correspondent in Bosnia detained for revealing information about Srebrenica massacre was withheld from international criminal court

Journalist Florence Hartmann, a former correspondent for Le Monde, has been jailed at the war crimes tribunal in the Hague, the body established to try the criminals she devoted her life to exposing.

Hartmann’s lawyer said she was being held in isolation, under 24-hour flourescent light, a situation that will last until at least Tuesday because of the Easter holiday.

Hartmann was convicted for contempt of court in 2009 for revealing in a book that the tribunal had withheld crucial information on the Srebrenica massacre of 1995 from the nearby International Criminal Court. The conviction was later upheld on appeal.

She was originally fined €7,000(£5,532), but that sentence was later converted to seven days in jail after the tribunal claimed the fine had not been paid. In December 2011, France refused a request to extradite her.

"Hartmann was approached by United Nations police ...demonstrators attempted to close ranks around her to prevent her being detained, but later police managed to separate her, bring her into the tribunal building and drag her through the lobby as she shouted protests against her treatment."

"Florence is in solitary isolation, totally segregated on what is called suicide watch, which in practice means that the light is on 24 hours a day and she is checked upon every 15 minutes...

I filed three motions yesterday [Thursday], one of which sought to have her granted early release no later than two-thirds of her sentence, as has been accorded to war criminals convicted by the courts in the Hague and Rwanda....

my application will not be addressed until after the Easter break...

When I asked to speak to someone about conditions of detention, they told me to call back on Tuesday.”

This UN "court" has gone insane. They arrest a journalist that exposed their evidence coverup. Pretend she is "suicidal" so they can implement a sleep deprivation strategy. They are presented with a motion for release, and they say, "it's Easter, come back on tuesday."

"United Nations police", indeed.

It's like they want to confirm every wild accusation of the black helicopters, anti-UN, NWO crowd.

Under no circumstances should the US join the ICC and validate the antics of this kangaroo "court".

Comment on the article:

Hartmann did tell the Croatian media that the ICTY just "happened" not to investigate the Yugoslav People's Army (YPA) General Staff that led the 1991 joint YPA / fascist Serb paramilitary campaign against Croatia because it didn't see any reason why.

This is despite the fact that the YPA General staff made their threats public not just in radio and television interviews, and outlined the genocidal conduct of YPA and Serb paramilitaries in their not-so secret Rampart Plan (RAM Plan), which outlined the systematic targeting of civilians with violence as a means to "demoralize the enemies" of Yugoslav "socialism," culminating with the leveling of Vukovar, killing over 1,600 people (including 86 children), and wounding at least 2,500, with the entire Croat and non-Serb population ethnically cleansed and barred from ever returnin. This of course was followed up and matched by the "liberation" of Bosnia Herzegovina in 1992 by the YPA and Serb paramilitaries.

Amazing institution that ICTY: written document outlining the targeting of civilians, a top-down, bottom up criminal order of battle, 1,600 civilian deaths (86 children), 2,500 wounded, that was not enough evidence for the YPA Generals to even be investigated for the ICTY
