April 5 is the birthday of three great stars who were also Democrats

Bette Davis:

On Ronald Reagan: “We didn’t think he was terribly bright. For instance, in Dark Victory he is playing a gay man and he never really understood that….He did love to talk, though. He would go on and on and would eventually bore everyone. Jane Wyman divorced him because he was a bore!”

Gregory Peck:

Peck was a political progressive who was once urged by top Democrats to run for Governor of California; he is proud to say he made Richard Nixon's enemies list. How does he feel about Ronald Reagan? "I felt fine when we were on liberal committees together," he says with a sly grin, then launches with bawdy delight into the latest Ron-and-Nancy routine ("Nancy: Ron, did you fart? Ron: Er—no. Should I have?&quot .

Spencer Tracy:

"Hell yes, I'm a democrat--A New Deal-Fair Deal Democrat--get a republican in there and you get the raw deal."

Spencer was as good an actor as any who ever stood on a stage, Peck, and of course Davis were in the same league.

Gregory Peck is my dream man. I saw him as a young girl (early teens/late tweens) in "Gentleman's Agreement", which opened my eyes to bigotry more than any thing else I can remember (and his role in To Kill a Mockingbird as well).
