We did at least salvage something last night, going from 17-16 republican control (although one of those republicans is a moderate) to 17-16 democratic control.
Van Waangaard(R) lost his recall to John Lehman(D).
I say don't let Walker do anything... not even a budget until Act 10 and voter ID are at very least partially repealed.

(26,735 posts)The legislature can call an "extraordinary session" (little difference really)... but it requires both chambers to act (and you can guess what the chances of that are).

(26,735 posts)The next session begins after the November elections... and one of the things the Republicans did while they were running over everyone else... was redistrict the state legislature very favorably for themselves.
I think we have two senators retiring rather than run in now-right-leaning districts. Going to be tough to hold the chamber.

The Assembly remains overwhelmingly Republican, and 16 senators, including 10 Democrats, are up for re-election this November in districts redrawn by the GOP-controlled Legislature. So it is very possible that the Democrats could take control of a senate that never even meets before they are kicked out in November.
