Ostensibly this was done in honor of Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday, bit I prefer a different interpretation.

"Every evening beginning at dusk, the Falls are lit in the colours of the rainbow. Don't miss the unmatched beauty of the Falls at night! Illumination of the Falls has been financed and operated by The Niagara Falls Illumination Board since 1925.
The Niagara Falls are often lit in special colours for many registered charities and not-for-profit organizations marking a significant date in support of their cause.

(16,038 posts)Ive been there once, is this view from Toronto? Doesn't look like NY as I remember it...

(10,137 posts)from the falls. One can not see Niagara Falls from Toronto - it's over 80 miles away and there's a bit of New York in the way.
BTW, one of the best views of the falls is from the middle of the bridge that connects Niagara Falls, NY with Niagara Falls, Ont.
