The maker of the Corvette paid a special tribute to Prince

Numerous brands have honored the life of Prince after his sudden death yesterday, mostly by incorporating the color purple into their logos. However, one company that is forever linked to the Minnesota legend's music offered a special tribute in this morning's print editions of the Star Tribune, the New York Times and other newspapers.

Chevrolet, the maker of the classic American sports car immortalized in one of Prince's biggest hits, "Little Red Corvette," took out a sparse, full-page color ad in the newspapers with a play on the song's lyrics. Check it out:

The purpling is lazy, and too many brands relied only on it. The tear, though, pulls it out of mediocrity, and I give it more points than brands that just overlaid with a rain image or something.

I blame AM radio.

"Little Red Corvette" was to me "Lyrical Man". "Strawberry Beret" was "Red Spherical Thing". Awesome musician, and from what I understand an awesome person too. I like his music.

If curious, the tie is with a very different car but so very beautiful in its own right, 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Boss 302 white on white.
Not really a car person, just those two cars.
