I love you and all, but you don't blame and chide people who are trying to do good for themselves and affect real change. Didn't I hear some place that the DEMS wouldn't give any $$$$ in this effort. I wonder if $$$$ had anything to do with the loss.... Citizens United/Koch Bros... anyone?
Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) slammed unions and liberal activists for pushing to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R).
"I think the people on the Democratic side made a big mistake and the funding thing was a big deal," Frank told The Hill Wednesday afternoon, alluding to Republicans' big cash advantage in the race. "My side picked a fight they shouldn't have picked. The recall was upsetting to people, the rerun of the election with [Democratic Milwaukee Mayor] Tom Barrett it's not a fight I would have picked."
......... "People need to be more strategic about the fights they pick," he said.

They just didn't want to get involved. And that sort of decision comes straight from the top/leader of the DNC.

(36,223 posts)What's so hard to understand about what I said. You countered it with NOTHING. Seems like someone might be trying to deflect or draw attention away from that fact.

(62,325 posts)ask for money. They needed MONEY. 'Paid staffers' and there is the problem.
And he had the personality of milque toast. No fire. No nothing to get the voters excited. The ones who were against Walker from the beginning didn't need convincing.
Though a part of me suspects it was the pub crossover in the primary that put him in.

(52,317 posts)if we can get them to routinely piss away a 15:1 advantage just to keep the status quo, well, it's that much less money they'll have available to spend in other races.

(22,143 posts)So there was some good there. Walker wsnt going to lose the recall. Even people that hate him voted against it because they felt it was unjustified. Take the good.

This fight has to be fought, arguments about timing, stage, and tactics are a whole different matter and if that is what is meant, then folks should state it as such.
Everyone is talking about jobs and rightfully so but it is impossible to get even secondary focus on wages and I guess to hell with labor rights and benefits.
If labor isn't worth fighting for for a bunch of people that work for a living (or would like to) then we are going to crap out and lose whatever "pragmatists" and "centrists" actually care about that keeps them from throwing an (R) next their names. Whatever it is be it choice, or equality, or civil rights, or a few pennies on the dollar for millionaires, or our national parks, or grants and loans or whatever it might be that holds such folks, if the corporatist can turn a buck then that will be lost too if we let this country be a land of paupers hoping to get a gig or hold the one they have another day.
You have had decades to see what is going on and if anyone thinks this ground can be given when the disparities are already pretty damn absurd and maybe not so arrogant for a person of Frank's stature and age but for most spouting off such a position (yes, even you business owners and professional types) are at the very height of hubris and stupidity.
Broke motherfuckers in predatory capitalist system with feudal like wealth and income differentials aren't winning any battles that their owner class doesn't also want.

(14,881 posts)simply did not fit with the overall Dem strategy.
Consider the possibility that they may have known some things that we are only now finding out. Such as the Joe Doe investigation and very possible indictment.
Consider the possibility that in a presidential election year, with congressional seats up for grabs, they may not only have had other priorities, but felt that this would be a bad tactical move and poor use of resources. They usually fail, the candidate had already faced Walker and lost, potential for voter fatigue, above indictment, etc.
