Could some states mitigate the effect of a repub take over of the government?

Here in CA we may get a Democratic super majority in our assembly and state house. That would mean we could pass tax initiatives, have our own single payer system, propose infrastructure programs on a state level and higher back public sector workers.

It would not completely mitigate the effect of a conservative federal government but it may make life a little more bearable.

2/3 majority vote. The voters approved that initiative in '10. Voters approved a majority vote to approve the budget, in the same election but gave the majority no way to get money for that budget. We need to fix prop 13 corporate property loopholes and pass an extraction tax on oil. Then maybe we can start to repair this state.

taken apart and pieces of it deleted. The corporate property tax loopholes are the worse. But I can just imagine how much money would be thrown @ that campaign.
