Paralyzed Cat Mom Drags Herself to Her Kittens so She Can Continue Caring for Them

Source: Lovemeow

Before Princess the cat became paralyzed, she gave birth to a litter of five kittens in a yard where she had been getting food from. The kittens are her everything.

But her world turned upside down, when she entered another yard where she was faced with brutality, and it left her paralyzed.

Her determination to care for her babies kept her alive, and she dragged herself back to the place where she left her babies.

When Dee Walton, owner of Sawyer Gully Animal Rescue at Weston, NSW, Australia, found out about Princess and her ordeal, she rushed to save the cat mama.

A kind lady, who had been feeding the cat, called the RSPCA, and they took the mama cat and her babies in.

It turns out that the cat mother has a microchip and they were able to track down the owner who later relinquished the cats to the shelter.

---

The person responsible for Princess' injuries has been arrested. The rescue group is working on a plan to get momma cat her very own wheelchair, so she can move freely again.

My wife family had lots of cats when she was a child. She told me about a mother cat, not bright, delivering her kittens and walking off right after. Fortunately, her mother, who was still nursing, took over so they were all fine.

There are all kinds in the animal world.

Turns out she was only 3 months old when I got her, and she's the light of my life.
She had a rough first 3 months though.
Her mother abandoned the litter, and only she and her brother survived.
The family that owned them hand fed them. when she could eat food herself she was bullied by the other animals in the house.
that's where I came in.
She was posted on craigs list as half ragdoll, I was looking for a ragdoll as they tend to be mellow cats.
she's probably not, but I don't care. she's the most loving, trusting kitty i've ever seen.
She's black with a few stray white hairs and a healthy 7 pounds last she was checked.
She has done more for my mental health than all the therapists and prozac.
My friend who's a dog person says she's awesome! lol

Those pictures hurt to see because that is a beautiful cat and in one, it was clear one kitten understood things.
I hope karma comes down like a planet on the asshole who hurt that mama cat, and I hope they all find a good home.

I think on animal planet...something like, "too cute", and they had them on an episode. They are too cute.

We too have a runt at 7 lbs. and her name is Bear. She is a tortoiseshell. I love her. We already had another, same breed, from college boys my daughter knew.

Bear was in a cage at pet smart and was the best cat there. We figured someone would take her. A month later she was still there, in a cage, and it was an easy decision. That wonderful kitten needed a home.

The two tortoiseshells could be no different. Bear is 7 lbs., while the other, Jellybean ticks in at around 22 lbs. (we figure the college boys didn't coordinate regular feedings hence her importance in eating.). They are great together. We think of them as sisters.

I've known many cat lovers in my area of the U.S. that love Calicos. I took one in as a rescue some years ago: the only rescue cat I've ever had that several people offered to take off my hands. My family wouldn't give her up.

They're litter mates I've had since they were 4 days old. One of them, who is absolutely my shadow, is lying on my shoulder as I am typing this. People used to offer to adopt her and her sister all the time; I used to bring them into my office when they were really small and helpless because they needed to be bottle-fed every couple of hours. People would come and knock on my door to see them and were always offering to help bottle feed them which was funny because the people offering were big, burly, bearded biker-type dudes who built film sets. They're going to be 12 this October.

All my pets (3 kitties and 2 dogs) are rescues and all but one came from horrible, abusive conditions. Animal abusers and child abusers are the lowest form of scum on the planet. Show me how someone treats and animal and you show me the heart and soul of that person.

I have a friend whose pitbull lost one of her front legs. Her remaining leg was starting to bow, so she did a Gofundme and a few generous DU members contributed.

Since this cat is full grown they should be able to get a good custom fit set of wheels. Kittens have to have one that's adjustable as they grow. Check out this kitten.

There is another group doing 3-D printing for animal prosthetics too. They recently made a replacement shell for a huge tortoise who lost most of her shell in a fire and was near death. They made it look like the real thing and she's doing very well now.

44. I had a neighbor who used to come home from work or wherever
Fri Jun 3, 2016, 07:19 PM

after leaving his pitbull locked in his tiny cabin all day, and apparently long enough he'd have accidents inside. He would come home late in the evening, and yell and scream and kick his dog into his refrigerator, until he dented in the front of it.

Joey, the neighbor, was a troubled boy, and was being searched for by the police one night. They swarmed our property, and came to arrest him. He snuck out a back window to escape, but they caught him and took him to jail, leaving the pitbull in the cabin. I don't know what plans were made to care for the dog. Of course this had to be very upsetting to his dog. The next day his dog jumped through a window (shattered it) and attacked a dog from the front house on our acre estate, who came wandering back to the cabin. Nobody could get him off this poor old female German shepherd's neck, until a neighbor brought a gun and shot the pitbull twice. Then animal control and police were called and they took the pitbull to the humane society. the German Shepherd needed stitches, but did survive (as did the pitbull) and finally recovered, thankfully. She was a really sweet dog.

I called the humane society while Joey was in jail and told them about his abuse. I could see it from my dining room window, which was on a second floor and looked down on his cabin. I asked them to make sure Joey didn't get his dog back. They told me they had no control over that and if he asked for his dog they had to give it to him. And they did.

Fortunately, he moved out after that. Unfortunately the dog went with him.

I wish there was more power to deal with animal abuse...I also called in a report on a horse kept in a tiny pen, who was standing in six inches of mud, and rocking back and forth like a crazy animal...seriously hard to watch. Animal Control wouldn't even come out and check on it. That was in Redwood City, California, some forty five years ago. I hope they have upgraded their protections for animal abuse. We have much better laws where I live now in Oregon.

I don't know what this person did to the little mama, and probably shouldn't know. Yes, these complete sociopaths who do such things should have it done right back to them. Hearing, "It's only a cat," makes me crazy.

She looks a lot like the little stray calico who is currently nursing 3 adorable kittens in my barn.
