Wonder how much more he could had done if he had never been in boxing? But then he probably would not had been able to do what he did without the boxing that gave him the name and exposure.

(98 posts)Ali was good. No doubt about that but so was Larry Holmes. Holmes had one of the longest winning streaks with no loses of any boxer in history.
Ali vs Holmes - both in their prime. I'd give the edge to Holmes.
Ali vs Tyson - both in their prime. Tyson would KO'd Ali.
I personally believe back in the day when Tyson was on his game, NO ONE could have beat him. He hit as hard as George Foreman with either hand and had the hand speed of Ali.
You can go to YouTube and see the entire fights of these great fighters.
Watch Tyson's greatest knockouts.

(98 posts)Sorry for rambling and getting off topic. Just the mere mentioning of Ali's name brings back so many of those great nights watching HBO boxing back in my kid days.

(10,715 posts)I watched some clips this weekend and its still amazing how fast Tyson was - half the time the KO punch was a barely visible blur. It is painful to watch, knowing the long-term neural damage that it leads to.
