I just returned from a small vigil (in a small community) for the Orlando victims

It was remarkable. There were Republican and Democratic county officials expressing support and condolences, the chief of police voicing a strong commitment to serving all members of the community, a leader from a local mosque in tears over the distortion of his beautiful religion, people of all ages and all orientations, including solemn children trying to hide their excitement over being allowed to hold lit candles high in the air. This is small town America in the 21st century.

It was beautiful, and it gives me hope.
May the victims and their families and loved ones find peace
