3. It is an American problem with a solution, if we chose it.
Pretty clear that the shooter was a conflicted gay man with father issues. The father is someone who should be watched more closely but with our laws he could be a new gun owner in minutes as well. Terrorism is a distraction at this point.

7. Then he shouldn't have pledged his allegiance to ISIS.
That's how these terror/hate attacks work these days.

5. Yep.
Been raising this issue, to continued mixed (mostly deflecting) results:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027904702 (this and the next post were before we knew the attacker had been socializing with the LGBT community, but plenty of replies show refusal to see the still-central issue of homophobia, even if now it appears it may have been most relevant in causing his internalized homophobia) and http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027909231 and http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=7913531 Thanks for raising it again. Yes it is the LGBT community that was brutally victimized. It is also a fact that cultural/political/religious homophobic vitriol is desperately in need of exposure and rooting out! ![]() |
