Both a domestic terrorist organization and a public health menace.
SHUT THOSE FUCKERS DOWN!!! Where else in the world do you see this sort of stuff happening with such regularity? Just in the USA Why mainly because of the NRA's ginning up of gun fetishism and their out and out extortion of elected officials
Now you want to shut down a political organization because you disagree with its message. I'm no NRA fan but I prefer that we don't start trampling on the rights of those we disagree with. If people really think that the NRA is the problem (and I don't think it is the bogeyman the left makes it out to be - the NRA didn't pull the trigger in Dallas) and those people are motivated enough then they'll form a political group to counter the NRA. But the fact is that the anti-gun types will complain on the internet but when it comes time to actually donating money or time to oppose the NRA they take a pass.

Is that OK with you? Just checking before I continue.

(2,493 posts)ISIS is a terrorist group that actively promotes and engages in the murder of non-Muslims. The NRA doesn't advocate or engage in such acts.

The NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) manages the NRA's Political Action Committee (PAC). Some of its activities include retaining lobbyists to support gun-rights legislation and election operations such as the purchase of campaign advertising.[158]

(17,377 posts)It is always sad and pathetic.
What kind of coward is so weak in their argument that they must burn down the First Amendment to silence their critics?

(15,445 posts)It's relevance is long past.
The US is no longer a small, insolvent and largely powerless ex-colony. It can and does entrust its defense to a well-armed, competent standing army.
The need for a citizens' militia has long since disappeared.
Then, declare the NRA to be a menace to public order in its present configuration. Either force it to overhaul itself or disband it.

(17,377 posts)Either force it to overhaul itself or disband it. Same goes for MoveOn, Planned Parenthood, Sierra Club, NARAL, et al.
Would these be fair policies for a Republican administration to pursue? Or do you only support suppressing the political speech of those who disagree with you?

(10,164 posts)That is to say, you could revoke the 2nd Am and even explicitly prohibit civilian ownership of firearms...and civilians would still own firearms by the millions. A ban is completely unenforceable.
