Mine is and I'm trying to figure out how widespread it is.

(5,935 posts)I only get recommended groups, but none for conservative stuff. For the most part, the recommended groups seem to reflect my FB activity. I only have two or three friends who post right-wing stuff. I'm not sure how my use of adblockers affects this.
uhnope
(6,419 posts)so maybe that triggers these ads. thanks.
HP and Asbury Methodist Village.
Mine is mostly for computer parts, home brewing gear, miniature wargaming figures, and beekeeping equipment.

No Vested Interest
(5,166 posts)a small "X".
I have clicked that to remove the Trump & right wing ads, until I get one more suitable.
I do have a number of relatives who post right-wing links, so Facebook may assume I have similar tastes, which I don't.
In fact, when the relatives post a right wing link on their own, I remove the link whenever possible without breaking up with the relative, which I am loathe to do.
One relative's wife was so consistently posting right wing links that I blocked her, without unfriending her. That way I can peek in at my convenience and see how her family doing, which is of interest, and only be subjected to her olitics on my own terms.

(42,282 posts)You can get rid of suggested pages, ads and a host of other FB problems or hassles using FB Purity (yeah, it's safe and no, I am not affiliated with it--just a happy user). Check it out at wwwfbpurity.com

(10,749 posts)No RW stuff. Though I posted here recently about the weirdness of fb suggestions that I know people in South America. No mutual friends. I threw out the possibility that FB is just fucking with me.

(41,694 posts)And, when any Trump/wingnut/republican page is suggest, I always hit the "X" to remove it, and check the "inappropriate/offensive" box. I think that's why I no longer see many of them.

(714 posts)This usually solves the problem!

(442 posts)You either are visiting sites, or making purchases, that one would usually associate with a Trump supporter, or someone using your computer is.
I do tend to block anything that is silly, however.

(524 posts)On Facebook, I don't see much right-wing stuff but I keep willful distance from people who interact with it.
As for ads... Chrome+Adblock Plus

(24,412 posts)part of FB's effort to ensure "balance" now that they've admitted that they are "biased" against right-wingers(?)

(60,334 posts)It's all based on what you search for, click on and like or share.
All it takes is clicking on a post once and they hook your page.
