NYPD chief denies Trump request to address officers: report

New York City Police Department Commissioner Bill Bratton rejected Donald Trump's request to speak to officers Friday following an attack in Dallas Thursday that left five law enforcement officials dead.

According to the New York Daily News, Trump asked to address NYPD officers at a 3 p.m. roll call, but Bratton called the request an attempt for a photo op.

"Our interest is staying out of the politics of the moment, and not to provide photo ops," Bratton told reporters, according to the Daily News.

"If Mr. Trump wants to speak to me, I would be happy to brief him on what we’re doing. If Sen. Clinton wants to speak to me, I would very happy to brief her on what we’re doing. But we are not in the business of providing photo ops for our candidates.”

I spent three weeks working at "the pile," the smoldering remnants of the World Trade Center after 9-11. It was an honor and privilege to serve alongside the NYPD, FDNY and other responders there. They earned my undying respect, admiration and compassion. (I, too, developed long-term health issues consequently, but have no regrets.)

At the time -- against my wishes and protestations, the "powers (posers) that be" allowed politicos such as Juliani to pose for photo ops with these heroes. Shame on them.
That's why I'm glad that this Commissioner said not only "No" but "Hell No" to the mangled-apricot-hellbeast who is the presumptive RNC nominee for the highest office in the land.
