I respectfully suggest that we just ignore JPR from now on.

I don't know how many remember but when Kerry won the nomination in 2004 a bunch of disaffected Dean-supporting DUers (anyone remember Slinkerwink?) jumped ship to a new Dean-supporting forum very much modeled on DU. But it faded away pretty fast and I don't see any posts there more recent than December 2005:

http://progressiveindependent.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=104

Soon JPR will go the same way; flinging the c-word at Hillary, lamenting Bernie's endorsement of her, and pimping Jill Stein will get old pretty quickly. I suggest that we let that place die a natural death and when good DUers start returning here let's welcome them back without snarkiness. Defeating the conceited, ignorant, dangerous, sociopathic, racist, mysogynistic maniac is by far our main priority now.

At least don't bring meta from that site to DU. It makes this site a lot less tolerable.

is DISCUSSIONIST. They tear it up over there.... It's like a YAHOO! board with better user interface...

People who want to fight (and they do exist) just aren't going to have as much opportunity to do that here. They can argue Dem policy, POLITELY, but the bashing/trashing and snarking/flaming is finally a thing of the past, thank heavens.

For those that once-upon-a-time came here FOR that, they'd do better to just scootch down the road to DI and have at it.

I look at it rarely (usually when DU is down for maintenance) and it DOES take a strong stomach!

But it is pretty as hell--very streamlined, very fluid, the way stuff is grouped is simple and easy to grasp.

If it were a civil place it would be .... adorable!

I think the admins oughta sell copies of that platform--it really does look good!

I never understood why people who were dissatisfied didn't simply slide over that way--it IS an "anything goes" Wild Wild West kind of place, and all views are welcomed, pretty much.

How frightful that you see that on your first day there!!!!!

On edit--never mind--I thought someone was telling YOU to shop there!!

I've mostly noticed Trumphumping and assorted rightwing themes, along with the usual Obama/Clinton hatred and mockery of other Democratic figures--they are racists, and they don't like minorites, many of them.

They think all those poor people working at minimum wage are "takin' their jerbs."

valleys at the VA/WVA border....closest town, Waiteville. as we drove and drove, we saw confederate flags at more than half of the houses. then, at one house there were three flag poles, one with the stars and bars, two which were unidentifiable, but scary-looking. I was able to find out later that the really scary looking one was Stormfront, and I couldn't find a match to the other. one of the people in the car was African American, and he was starting to freak out, but he still ran out of the car and took some closeup pix of the flags. I can't FIND them anymore, damn.

it instantly brough to mind schwerner, chaney, and goodman.

btw, I tried to find some sort of marker for them when I stopped in Philadelphia almost 20 years ago, and nobody could 'help' me find it. none of them professed to even know what I was talking about. this was before I had a computer.

there's a marker, but I can't cut and paste the url

this, then, in memoriam:

just imagine what those MONSTERS did to those young men. have you ever read the story.....so so so sad
