Obama becomes first sitting president to publish an academic paper

Barack Obama just became the first sitting president to publish a scholarly article.

The article, titled "United States Health Care Reform: Progress to Date and Next Steps," with "Barack Obama, JD" listed as the author, was published in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (known as JAMA) on July 11.

It's a pretty badass move for a president, and he got a lot of love on Twitter with the hashtag #ObamaJAMA.

honorably and at the top of his game and becomes an elder statesman.

He'll be right up there with Carter in terms of downright goodness and REAL morality.

Presidents we've ever had, certainly in my lifetime. Kennedy was before my time, but from what I've read, there seems to be a certain similarity between him and Obama.

Ike - a natural leader and generally a good guy, but no high scholar.

Nixon - paranoid but not dumb

Ford - at best, of average intelligence, his oafishness notwithstanding

St Ronald - IQ and hat size always in competition

Poppy Bush - not a nice man, but probably the smartest of the bunch

Idiot Son Bush - please

And then there are their candidates . . . . . wow.

lifetime, and not many Presidents are stupid, by I was really talking about Obama and Kennedy as intellectuals. That's a certain kind of intelligence we don't see in the White House very often. It doesn't always work out in our favor, though. Woodrow Wilson had a great intellect, but he was a disaster.

Obama should be on the SCOTUS one day. I think he would be happier and possibly more effective there. Wouldn't it be great if he succeeded Thomas?

Another editorial in the same issue invites presidential candidates to offer their thoughts on health care for publication.
