No, it's not a good thing. On the other hand, a coup is usually not a good thing.

Even when they're a "good thing" they're mostly a bad thing in response to an even worse thing.

The only thing worse than a coup is a revolution. A revolution is almost always a bad thing. Even when it looks like it's justified, most of the time it at best works out to be a thing as bad as what was a response to. But some people figure that it's better to do nothing and create a blood of corpses and chaos then do nothing and let the system carry on. Hope springs eternal, but often off the cliff into the abyss. Such is hope when it's held by lemmings.

Revolutions that work out usually have a population that's reasonably well-educated, independent, prosperous, united or easily united, and in a position where the grasping for power is slight to nil or such attempts can be swatted down easily.
