Chris Matthews brought that up this evening, posing the question about where that expression came from. Answer: a water-skiing scene featuring Fonzie, on "Happy Days." Executive producer, Garry Marshall.

He sure had a great career. Launched a ton of big-time careers.

I lived in a very small town, so I have no clue how or why on earth that happened or who had the pull to get him there. In retrospect what was amazing was that we all knew his connection to the show and went bananas when he came into the room. He was really nice and took the time to talk to us about HD, Laverne and Shirley, the creative process, etc.
